These days’ people from different religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds are meeting each other more than ever. On many occasions they end up falling in love with each other and marrying each other. Now in case of a multi cultural or interfaith marriage, couples normally try to avoid the clash on which religious ceremony to be followed or to be given preference to, by going for the civil wedding ceremony. The reason behind this preference for the civil wedding ceremony is because there are no religious practices associated with it. This civil wedding ceremony could be conducted in various places like Judge’s chambers, registrar’s/lawyer’s office or if you want to avoid the drabness of the above mentioned places then you can opt for more romantic venues like beaches, gardens etc.

While you are planning to getting married through civil ceremony it is very important to remember that laws regarding civil wedding varies from state to state and there are even more variations in different countries. So you need to go to the local court or town hall to apprise yourself of legal rules and procedures before you actually plan your wedding. Apart from being well versed in rules and procedures, it is also important to know about which official has the real authority to conduct your wedding ceremony. Once you have the designation and name of that person, you can meet the official and try to seek their appointment for your planned wedding date. You should further ask the official about the procedures to be followed for procuring the marriage license and the documents needed to be produced, which are normally birth certificate, previous marriage certificate or divorce certificate if there is one and utility bills.

If you want you can add some religious ceremonies also to this wedding ceremony as it will make it more colorful, joyous and memorable.
