How To Choose Wedding Dress For Your Body Type?

Filed under: Bridal Gowns,General Wedding Thoughts — by Wedding Expert @ 8:46 am

Choosing your wedding dress before wedding is quite a hard work. Rushing to mall, moving from shop to shop, examining various dresses and it often takes quite some time before we come across a dress which catches our fancy. But more than often that is only half work done because we liked the style and color of the wedding dress but we did not give serious consideration to the fact whether it would fit perfectly on our body, an omission which may cost us dearly during the wedding day. Ideally we should make sure that our wedding dress should be stylized so that it looks really good on you and make you even more attractive. The guiding principle of styling your wedding dress should be to highlight your strengths prominently and hide the weaknesses.

Here are some of the most common body types and the various ways to find the perfect wedding dress for them:

•    Petite: For the petite girls, those beautiful and gorgeous A-Line dresses are perfect since they start narrow at the top and go broader at the bottom, some thing which makes them look not so petite and infact very gorgeous.

•    Large Busted: All those women with large breasts should prefer those off the shoulder gowns, it highlights the shoulders and minimizes the breasts and keep their skirt narrow, this will draw every body’s attention upwards.

•    Heavy Bottom:  Those women with a larger hip and buttocks should always go for those wedding dresses, which concentrate on their upper body. Also  short skirts should be avoided completely, instead they should be going for full skirt.

Best Wedding Dresses for a Large Bust

Filed under: Bridal Gowns — by Wedding Expert @ 12:01 am

Should your bust size dictate the style of your wedding dress? This is completely up to you! The most important thing is that you feel comfortable – and beautiful – in your wedding gown, so if any of our recommendations below does not resonate – simply ignore it! We’ve said it before: YOUR day, YOUR dress, YOUR decision!

If you ARE looking for a few pointers, however, regarding the best wedding gown styles for brides who have a large bust, here are our best tips for you:

1. Wear a supportive bra. A well-fitting bra is the most important item of clothing you can wear – it’s at least as important as the wedding gown! So make sure you get a well fitting bra, and wear it when you shop for your wedding gown.

2. Strapless may not be the best choice for you. We say “may” becuase many large-chested brides wear strapless designs quite successfully. However, it is definitely more challenging in terms of support.

3. Halter dresses are great. They provide plenty of support and are very flattering for a large chest.

4. A high neck will make your chest appear larger. Normally this is not much of a concern when it comes to wedding gowns – most have low necklines anyway – but still, you may want to keep this in mind when you shop.

As always, if you find a dress that you love and that you feel great in, go for it, regardless of tips and rules.

Would You Wear A Red Wedding Gown?

I came across this photo on Flickr and I just had to write about it! We did address colorful wedding gowns in the past in this blog, but I was wondering – specifically for red – would you do it?

Red seems to suggest lots of things that are the exact opposite of what a traditional white wedding gown suggests. Red is bold, grownup, and daring. It shows self confidence and it probably symbolizes the exact opposite of virginity, although I doubt many brides these days wear white to symbolize that.

Personally, while I love the dress shown above, I wouldn’t wear a red wedding gown. My own wedding dress when I got married was pure white – it felt right at the time, and I’m pretty sure I would make the same choice today.

I do admire brides who go for it and choose a bold color though! One interesting option is offered by Anya Bridal, maker of unique, gorgeous Atlanta wedding gowns:

The Sarah wedding gown is white, but it features a gorgeous dark red sash. This design enables you to wear a relatively traditional wedding gown while still making a bold statement with that red sash, and it would be just perfect for a red-and-white wedding theme!
