Should you wear closed-toe shoes to your wedding or open-toe sandals? The answer depends mostly on your own personal style and preference, and somewhat on the time of year and on the weather.
Evening sandals are a perfectly acceptable choice for even the most formal wedding, so you shouldn’t feel as if you need to choose closed-toe shoes for a formal wedding. However, if you’re getting married during the winter, on the east coast, and the weather is expected to be very cold, then some might argue that open toed sandals would not look appropriate.
Still, even under the above circumstances, and since the wedding is likely held indoors, where it will be warm and dry, there is absolutely no reason not to go with a pair of fabulous, glamorous evening sandals. Just avoid hosiery if you wear sandals, and make sure to get a meticulous pedicure before the big night.
A couple of great bridal shoe styles:
I like these silver sandals by Stuart Weitzman (offered at Zappos) because they are pretty and elegant, and the heel height is very manageable. ($298)
A true classic, these affordable ($100) Calvin Klein white satin pumps will complement any bridal gown and are, again, very wearable in terms of your ability to stand, walk and dance in them.
